Women Mentoring Women

I want to share this exurb from our Simple Woman's homepage:

This book, "Finding a Mentor, Being a Mentor" by Donna Otto needs hardly a review...I chose rather to share a brief snippet that shares about the book in a wonderful nutshell.

"Only a few generations ago, lessons were taught in that classroom as women worked together cooking, canning, sewing, and raising children, Today we women are far removed from doing chores together. Instead we press a button to open our garage door when we leave and close it right behind us when we return. We fill our days with what some of them undoubtedly are just that. But we're often too busy for people and for relationships characterized by intimacy and accountability. We lead fragmented lives, isolated from one another and often estranged from ourselves.

It used to be that when a baby was born, grandmother, aunts, sisters, and neighbors all showed up to help the new mother learn to care for the baby. Women influenced one another in every area of their lives. They provided help when it was needed, hope when it was needed. In today's more mobile society, young women no longer have the support of neighbors or an extended family.

The busyness of our culture keeps us from passing on spiritual principles and truths as well as day-to-day lessons. Spiritual and moral values are virtually absent throughout our culture. The wealth of spiritual knowledge and down-to-earth wisdom to be learned from women who have walked through the experiences of life is being lost at a time when, more than ever, young women need someone to come alongside them."

FOR TODAY... from Sandra's Day book

Outside my window... a beautiful early December afternoon.

I am thinking... about the expected (possible) flurries/snow this evening and tomorrow morning!!!

I am thankful for... a wonderful morning with my family.

I am wearing... long black pants, a sage green top, and black crocks.

I am remembering... my first snow while living in TN. with my family.

I am going... to look up a recipe for tonight's supper.

I am currently reading... Proverbs31 Ministries, "Encouragement for Today" Devotionals.

I am hoping... I will get to enjoy some snow with my family this weekend.

On my mind... is the Hope we have in Christ, and the reality of Christmas.

From the learning rooms... (NA).

Pondering these words... Psalm 31:3, "Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me." (NIV) (Proverbs31 Ministries, 2009).

From the kitchen... Holiday Treats!

Around the house... Simon (the Himalayan) roaming around our home just looking for someone to pounce!

One of my favorite things~ is cuddling up on the couch with my hubbie to watch our family movie in the evening.

(If you are participating in other themed blog carnivals, memes and whatnot, do not sign my Mister Linky. Use a single, separate post to participate here. This is only for my Daybook meme~)
You are welcome and encouraged to place the button I have created (see above) each time you participate at the top of your daybook posts or to hyperlink it on your sidebar. I would appreciate this very much!
Mention my blog and offer a link back to the main page of my blog .
This is requirement to take part and a kind gesture to me your hostess as well as your readers--they will know where to join in the fun, too.
2. Copy the "permalink" from your "The Simple Woman's Daybook" post, not the link to the front page of your blog. This will make it much easier for others to find instead of looking throughthe entire list of entries at your blog for your "daybook". This will save time for all of us.
3. Come back here and add your permalink to Mister Linky box. This is the second box. In the first box where it lists "YOUR NAME"...please only place 3 words, these can be your name or blog name. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me
